Don't Eat This
If you want to know what not to eat to lose weight, pay careful attention here. These are foods that are big no no's if you want to lose weight. Excessive amounts of saturated and trans fat will slow down or reverse your fat loss efforts. They are also bad for your heart, brain and arteries. The most common source of saturated fat is meat so try to stay away from a lot of steak, beef (lean beef once in a while is OK), chicken skin, bacon, sausages, and certain other pork products.
Other foods to stay away from are coconut products including coconut milk / cream, cheeses, baked goods (pie crust, cookies, etc), peanuts, a lot of prepared foods like microwavable dinners (read the package, you should think twice about anything that has a lot of saturated fat in it). Also, stay away from fast food as much as possible! It might be hard to change your habits, but if you can change them, you WILL lose weight. You can still enjoy eating AND lose tons of weight if you know what not to eat to lose weight.
Eat This, but Not Too Much
I've explained a bit about what not to eat to lose weight, but here are some foods that you should eat in moderation, once in a while. Tree nuts such as almonds and walnuts can make a very healthy snack, but you shouldn't have more than a small handful a day. They provide a lot of 'good unsaturated' fats, nutrients and fibre. Avocados are a great addition to salads and sandwiches and will give you energy and lots of unsaturated 'good' fats. If you like red meat, you can have some lean beef once in a while, but make sure to trim off excess fats. Carb-rich foods can be troublesome if you want to lose weight, but you should still eat small amounts of them. You can eat small portions of pasta or potatoes.
Eat a Lot of This
Now that you know what not to eat to lose weight, I'll tell you about some foods that actually help you lose weight. For meats, you should eat chicken without the skin (no chicken wings!), turkey, salmon, flounder, lobster and crab. Other good protein sources include beans, lentils and tofu. You should eat tons of fresh, raw vegetables including cucumbers, peppers, celery, turnip, green beans etc. These are great for you, have lots of nutrients, fill you up, burn more calories etc. You should also have a nice serving of fruit for dessert every day.
Remember, just as important as what not to eat to lose weight is what you should be eating. Keep this in mind and you will see a lot more success with your weight loss efforts going forward
